Barden & Barden is looking for our next paralegal to join the team. Here is what the paralegal job role looks like:
- Conduct legal research and draft litigation case documents from simple to complex.
- Gather information from clients and other sources; maintain client matter files.
- Use our practice management software and other software apps that support the firm's work.
- Assist attorneys preparing for depositions and trial.
In the first 90 days you will:
- Become acquainted with our team and understand everyone's functional role.
- Learn about the software technology we use and how we organize case information.
- Establish relationships with existing clients and onboard new clients.
- Work on client matters in pre-suit and litigation phases.
Eligible candidates will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Three or more years working as a paralegal in a litigation practice (complex injury and employment practice preferred).
- A paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program (AAS - Paralegal and/or Bachelor's degree in a relevant major preferred)
- Experience drafting, filing, and serving litigation documents such as written discovery, discovery notices and subpoenas, pleadings, and trial documents for cases filed in state and federal court.
- The ability to clearly and effectively communicate, be detail oriented, switch tasks with ease, stay highly organized, and work independently with limited supervision.
- Experience gathering information from clients, opposing parties, witnesses, experts, and vendors.
- Familiarity with Apple, Adobe, Microsoft 365, and legal industry software programs.
- Legal research experience, especially being able to read, comprehend, and apply court rules.
- A desire to help people who have claims against large corporations, insurance companies, and governments.
Additional details about this position that are important to know:
- This is a full-time, on-site position. We typically work during regular office hours, with some flexibility.
- Rate of pay is market based and depends on how well you match our values and job qualifications. We expect the starting pay will range from $29 to $38 per hour.
