Legal Assistant

Barden & Barden is looking for our next legal assistant to join the team. Here is what the legal assistant job role looks like:

  • Support all aspects of client matters in pre-suit and litigation for our employment and injury cases.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, opposing insurers and attorneys, and others involved in our cases.
  • Gather information from clients and other sources; maintain client matter files, handle scanning, printing, and mailing.
  • Draft documents for correspondence, discovery, and court filings.
  • Use our practice management software and other software apps that support the firm's work.

In the first 90 days you will:

  • Become acquainted with our team and understand everyone's functional role.
  • Learn about the software technology we use and how we organize case information.
  • Establish relationships with existing clients and onboard new clients.
  • Work on client matters in pre-suit and litigation phases.

Eligible candidates will have the following required qualifications:

  • Someone whose interests and abilities align with our firm's core values.
  • Two or more years working as a legal assistant in a litigation practice.
  • Experience drafting litigation documents such as written discovery, discovery notices and subpoenas, pleadings, and trial documents.
  • Experience performing administrative duties such as drafting and editing emails and letters, filing and serving court documents, scanning and printing documents, communicating with clients, opposing parties, witnesses, experts, and vendors, entering information into practice management software, and assisting attorneys with trial prep.
  • The ability to clearly and effectively communicate, be detail oriented, switch tasks with ease, stay highly organized, and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity with Apple, Adobe, Microsoft 365, and legal industry software programs.
  • A desire to help people who have claims against large corporations, insurance companies, and governments.

Additional details about this position that are important to know:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position. We typically work during regular office hours, with some flexibility.
  • Rate of pay is market based and depends on how well you match our values and job qualifications. We expect the starting pay will range from $23 to $28 per hour.
